On Friday night, Hull’s Tommy Coyle won the vacant WBC International Silver Lightweight Title by first round TKO over Antonio Joao Bento of Portugal. The VIP Promotions fight-night at City Hall, Hull, also featured six undercard bouts.

Ryan Clark of Navenby, Lincolnshire, successfully defended his International Masters Super-Middleweight Title for the second time when he scored a first round knockout of Jamie Boness of Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. The Carl Greaves promoted fight-night at Magnus School Sports Centre, Newark, featured five undercard bouts all won by the home-side on points.

Saturday night saw another successful Prizefighter Show for promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, when Larry Ekundayo of Stoke Newington won by TKO over Birmingham’s Terry Carruthers in the final of the eight man Tournament. Incredibly – Ekundayo fought his first professional contest in March and his second in June before entering Prizefighter. He secures a £32,000 Prize fund with an additional £2,000 for winning by knockdown.

And we hear that David Haye has signed up for ‘I’m a Celebrity, Get me out of here!’ which starts on Sunday. Not sure his boxing skills will come in handy for his stint in the jungle but we’ll wait to see how long he can survive on limited rations, bug-infested camp-beds, bush-tucker trials and the inevitable rows over the coming weeks…
