Former linear heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs had the last laugh last night in Hollywood, Florida as he knocked out former WBO heavyweight champion of the world Ray Mercer in seven rounds. The two had shared more than a little bad blood in previous years and the ill feeling between them threatened to spill out before the first round of the bout came around. however, on the Warrior boxing promoted card, festivities were held back until the appropriate time and Briggs made good on his promise to take Mercer out of commission. Briggs now has thirty-four wins with twenty-five knockouts, six losses and one draw.
