The situation between promoter Frank Warren and IBF light welterweight champion of the world Ricky Hatton just took an ugly turn. Reportedly, Warren has filed suit against Hatton in the hope of retaining the Manchester man for what he says is another three fights left on their contract. Hatton is apparently set to appear on rival U.K. promoter Fight Academy's upcoming promotion although no official statement from Fight Academy has been released. The legal proceedings would apepar to halt the progress of both Warren and Hatton, as the fighter expected to be in the ring later this year, a feat that might prove difficult now with Warren's legal moves. Also, without the huge presence of Hatton in his promotional stable, Warren would appear to struggle to make his new venture with British terrestrial channel ITV a success, as Hatton's incredible drawing power and Stateside appeal has carries the British boxing establishment for several years.
