Former European title challenger Craig Docherty will be the main support at the Fife Ice Arena on Friday 30th September 2005 when local hero Kevin Anderson challenges for the Commonwealth Welterweight Championship. At a press conference today Docherty stated he was honoured to be on the bill particularly as it is hoped Kevin wins the title on an historic night. Craig said: "This is a great opportunity for me to re-establish myself on the Championship scene and I will be bringing a big following to support Kevin as well as myself. Kevin is in for a hard fight as the Ghanaians are tough. I have fought against two in the past and it is Important that Kevin is at his best both in fitness and performance. Winning the Commonwealth title will open even more doors for Kevin, as it did for me."
Tommy Gilmour who manages both boxers and promotes the event with Barry Hearn confirmed that everything is going well with the tournament. Tommy also said; "Everyone is really up for this show and it has given a great incentive to young hopefuls Steven McGuire, Mike Reid and Stuart Green to make a name for themselves on such a big night for the Kingdom of Fife"
Tickets are priced at £40 (reserved seating) and £30(unreserved seating) and are available through Steven McGuire, Tam Anderson & all the boxers on the bill as well as the St Andrew's Sporting Club on 0141 248 5461.
