Veterans Day Spectacular Nov. 11
MASHANTUCKET, Conn, (September 8, 2004) - The second annual Great Northeast Tour, promoted by S & L Boxing and featuring the U.S. Marines Boxing Team from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, once again will celebrate Veteran's Day (November 11) at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
The Veterans Day Spectacular at Foxwoods showcases an amateur boxing competition involving members of the U.S. Marines, National Native American, and Team Connecticut amateur boxing clubs.
Last year a near sellout crowd enjoyed an evening of boxing and patriotism at Foxwoods. All five branches of the United States military will be well represented, either in the ring or in attendance, including the U.S. Marines, Army (West Point), Navy (Groton submarine base), Coast Guard (academy in New London) and Air Force (ROTC at UConn.).
This year's competition at Foxwoods has additional meaning because Gov. Jodi Rell has established a Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame.
Members of the U.S. Marines Boxing Team will receive a tour of the Mashantucket Pequot Museum, which is on the reservation, about a mile from Foxwoods. For more information about the 2nd annual Great Northeast Tour call 1.617.227.9332.
