One of the top women fighters in the world saw action in Karlsruhe, Germany tonight as Regina Halmich retained her WIBF Flyweight trophy with a close split decision over previously undefeated Maria Jesus Rosa in front of over 4,000 onlookers at the DM Arena. It was a torrid affair from the start with the shorter Spanish challenger looking to press in close on the first lady of European boxing. In a dramatic back and forth contest it was the sheer toughness and experience of Halmich which saw the 28 year old from Karlsruhe through a difficult defense. Light Fly Champion Jesus Rosa picks up her first loss to go to 19-1 (4) while Queen Regina now boasts a magnificent mark of 48-1-1 (15) after competing in her 44th major title fight. WIBF-GBU Flyweight titlist Viktoria Milo of Hungary may be next up for the durable German.
