Teenage Prospect Hernandez-Harrison Wins At Dover Downs

Teenage welterweight sensation, Dusty Hernandez-Harrison of Washington, D.C., kept his undefeated record intact scoring a six-round unanimous decision victory over a game Jonathan Garcia at Dover Downs Casino and Resort in Dover, Del.

Super middleweight champion, Andre Ward, was in attendance to support Dusty and was impressed with what he saw in the young fighter.

“Dusty has tremendous talent and some natural attributes that are not common in many of the younger boxers, such as patience,” Ward said. “He has a great team around him and the potential is there for him to be very successful in this sport.”

Hernandez-Harrison is quickly becoming a fan favorite in the region. After the unanimous decision was announced, he spent the next 90 minutes signing autographs and taking pictures with the fans, many of whom made the drive up from the D.C. area.

“I like fighting in Delaware; the people at Dover Downs have been really great, and I would like to come back and fight here again,” Hernandez-Harrison said. “I love that it’s so close to DC and that so many of fans were able to come and watch me. Garcia definitely came to fight and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves.”

“These are the types of fights that will only make Dusty better as he continues to develop his professional career,” said Buddy Harrison, Dusty’s trainer and father. “He continues to learn from his work in the gym, and in fights like last evening at beautiful Dover Downs.”

Hernandez-Harrison continues his busy 2013 under the guidance of attorney and sports agent Jeff Fried, who will have the young fighter back in action on May 18, in his hometown of Washington, D.C.

“We’re coming home; six weeks of Dusty finishing classes and finals, preparing for his first eight-round bout and promoting an extraordinary and distinctive boxing event in front of Dusty’s loyal fans and a National television audience,” Fried added.
