James Toney takes a playful swipe at the heavy bag after arriving in Reno Monday for his important IBA heavyweight title defense against Dominick Guinn Saturday on SHOWTIME. In the co-feature on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING (9:15 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast), IBF heavyweight champion Chris Byrd defends against DaVarryl Williamson.
Said Toney: "I am a little nervous. I feel sort of like I did a few days before my pro debut or when my kids were born. Mostly, though, I am anxious and excited to be back in Reno. I have fought here twice before so I know what it is to fight in this kind of altitude.
"Guinn has been talking a lot. I can't wait to shut him up. I have had a great camp and am ready. In my last fight, I beat (John) Ruiz with one hand and barely trained at all. There is nothing Guinn can do or show me that I have never seen before.
"I am really looking forward to Saturday. I am ready to give my all. This is going to be a great fight.''
