Reports are currently circulating in the boxing world that undisputed middleweight champion of the world Bernard Hopkins has taken himself out of the running for a rematch with his most recent victim, boxing superstar Oscar de la Hoya.
The Golden Boy Promotions press conference reported on this site that was established and then abruptly cancelled was thought to have been the official platform for Hopkins and De La Hoya to announce a rematch between them. The latest whispers are that Hopkins has decided against engaging De La Hoya once again in what would likely be an uninteresting rematch with De La Hoya. Hopkins wa sso dominant over De La Hoya in administering De La Hoya's first career stoppage loss that a rematch holds little or no appeal to the boxing public at large. De La Hoya has yet to signal his next move while Hopkins is set to defend the middleweight titles againt Howard Eastman, the tough middleweight from Guyana now fighting out of England. Stay tuned for more details as they happen.
