|On Saturday in Szentes, Hungary Attila Kovacs kept his European Boxing Association Super Welterweight Crown against former world challenger Mamadou Thiam from France via seventh round stoppage. The contest started very strongly, with Thiam as the aggressor in the early rounds. However by the fifth, Kovacs started to dominate until the beginning of the seventh when|
Thiam suffered a knockdown. The Frenchman beat the count but referee Manuel Maritxalar of Spain was forced to stop the title fight later on, at 2:23 of the seventh round.

On the same bill, undefeated former IBF/WBA International Middleweight Champion Jozsef Nagy won a unanimous points decision over British veteran Danny Thornton to take the the vacant EBA Super Middleweight Title. The official scorecards were as follows: Ove Ovesen (DK) 117-112; Manuel Maritxalar (SP) 119-109; Miklos Dory (HU) 118-110. Referee of the contest was Lahcen Oumghar from Holland.
