Undefeated super middleweight "Bad" Chad Dawson participated in an open media workout Wednesday in New Haven, Conn. In the "ShoBox: The New Generation" 12-round main event Friday, Nov. 18, on SHOWTIME (11 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on west coast), Dawson (18-0, 13 KOs) faces fellow southpaw Ian “The Cobra” Gardner (19-2, 7 KOs). In an entertaining co-feature, Benjamin Flores (11-0, 4 KOs) opposes Daniel “Azuquita” Jimenez (13-1-1, 8 KOs) in an eight-round junior lightweight scrum.
Dawson Quotes: "I am always looking for a knockout. I will make a statement after I beat Gardner. You get in there and get him out early. Show them there is no comparison to you. I want to make a statement when I beat Gardner, and I will.
"My plan is, as soon as that bell rings, to go in and not give him the opportunity to make me look sloppy. I am just going to jump right on him and end the fight as quickly as I can. I’ve seen Gardner fight three to four times. I am not threatened by him. He’s got an awkward style and once I get past his style, once I connect with a couple of hard punches, I think that will be it. I know he’ll try and run, but I’ll cut the ring off. I’m not going to chase him. I’m jumping right on him.''
