James Toney:
As you know I signed a contract to fight you for your IBA World Heavyweight Title, December 1st on Fox Sports’ Best Damn Sports Show, Period. (Later moved to December 15th ) This was a fight that you claimed to be a “Stay Busy” fight.
Now I have learned that our fight has been canceled in hopes that you will fight WBC Champ Hasim Rahman in February or March of 2006.
If our 12 round IBA Championship bout was indeed considered a “Stay Busy” fight by you, then why cancel our bout in hopes for a Rahman fight which would be at least 2-3 months later?
I know why. Because you know I would have brought more to you than you want to risk. I was prepared to win and you weren’t willing to risk it.
I, unlike some in our profession, am willing to fight anyone, anytime, anyplace.
I now have a record of 61 wins 5 losses 1 draw and have 46 Knock Outs and I would have had 62 wins after December 15th.
It’s still not too late to honor your signed agreement!
