Maussa takes 3 attempts to make weight!!
There was high drama in Sheffield today as Colombian Carlos Maussa took to the scales 3 times before the BBBC declared he had made the 140lb limit.
Star MC, Michael Buffer opened the proceedings for the Fight Academy promoted event, bringing out the Colombian to polite applause from the pro Hatton crowd.
Maussa, looking very drawn, dissapointingly weighed in at a quarter of a pound over the limit and was given 2 hours in which to lose the excess bulk.
Michael Buffer then brought on stage the bookies favourite and IBF Champion Ricky Hatton, to a roaring reception from the assembled fans and journalists.
Hatton made the weight at the first attempt, weighing in at 139lbs 9oz according to his Nutritionalist Kerry Kayes.
Maussa returned some 40 minutes later, apparently making the weight at the second attempt but had to get back on the scales for a third time to satisfy the assembled BBBC officials.
Also in attendance, were former Heavyweight champ Tim Witherspoon and longtime friend of 'The Hitman', Marco Antonio Barrera, who are both expected to be ringside tommorow evening.
