The main event of the night on Fight Academy's card from Bracknell, England last night was the European Cruiserweight Title bout between Champion Alexander Gurov of the Ukraine and challenger David Haye from the Bermondsey section of London. The first thing noticed about the "Hayemaker" as he climbed through the ropes was his ripped physical appearance and a look of thunder across his face. To say that he was in the zone would be an understatement.
Round One: The bell sounds and both fighters meet in the center of the ring with Haye slanting back and staying low, circling his gloves almost Ali style. Gurov throws a few meaningless southpaw jabs out and then Haye powers into action with a stiff snappy jab followed by a thunderous right cross that sends Gurov body slamming the canvas.
The count starts...1,2,3,4,5,6,7..Gurov claws his way up and the ref takes one look at him and waves it all off. David Haye takes the European title in stunning style with a textbook one - two combination and looks the business.
Gurov has been around and is in no way a pushover but Haye's power and hand speed proved utterly devastating against the dazed Ukrainian. Haye now moves up to WBC #6 and WBA #2 in the world cruiserweight rankings but has bigger fish to fry as I'll reveal in a world exclusive interview to follow shortly. Stay Tuned Fight fans... this is not to be missed!
