Billy Corcoran Offers Femi Femitola A Festive Boxing Present

By Boxing Press December 23rd, 2005 All Press Releases

Hennessy Sport?s Billy Corcoran has played Father Christmas by offering Bradford?s Femi Fehintola the opportunity to challenge for the English super featherweight title he won in October with a devastating third round stoppage of former British champion Roy Rutherford. “I have just heard that I can make a voluntary defence of my belt on January 20th at the York Hall,” began Corcoran. “I want that to be against Fehintola. My promoters Hennessy Sports have already faxed through a formal offer for the fight to his team ? without options.”

?The Kid? continued: “Fehintola is unbeaten and seems to get a bit of hype, but people are rightfully saying that he needs a meaningful fight. This is it. “This fight makes sense, particularly as it would be broadcast on SKY, who have showed his last few fights and also me winning my title. As far as I am concerned, there is no reason for him not taking this, we have had exactly the same amount of notice.”

Should the fight come off, Corcoran can only see one winner. “I know a bit about Fehintola, I sparred him down at the England squad. He is a decent prospect and may be a bit tricky for a while, but I know I will knock him out. I will give him the sort of pressure that he never knew existed. This is a Christmas present that he could regret receiving.”
