With 32 days to go until Judgement Day at the M.E.N Arena, WBO World Super-Middleweight Champion Joe Calzaghe is smokin’ ahead of his shoot-out against IBF champ Jeff Lacy on March 4. In a recent interview on a boxing website, a confident Lacy stated: “I’m going over there to knock Calzaghe out!” which in return has fired-up the power-punching Welshman who is relishing a brawl with the unbeaten American.
“ A lot of American fighters challenging for my title have come over here before shooting their mouth off but they have come off second best and Lacy will be no different,” stormed Calzaghe.
“ Omar Sheika, Charles Brewer and Byron Mitchell, they have all said that they are going to knock me out but they all went back empty handed,”
“ Mitchell knocked me down but it just pissed me off and I got straight back up and fired back and stopped him later in the round anyway,”
“ Lacy’s talking big at the moment with Gary Shaw behind him but it will just be me and him on the night and lets see how brave he gets then,”
“ I look forward to seeing what he brings to the ring and if he can back up what he’s saying because I’m ready for this toe-to-toe fight that he wants, only I will be sharper, faster and more powerful,”
He added, “I’ve made 17 title defences and Lacy will be notch number 18.”
