Exclusive Boxing Interview: Samuel Peter

By Brian Ethridge March 1st, 2006 All Boxing Interviews

With his sensational knockout power, Samuel Peter, "The Nigerian Nightmare", is one of the few heavyweights that boxing fans can get excited about. The heavy fisted contender has proven his ability to come back from a disappointing loss following a title eliminator against Wladimir Klitschko last year and Peter is yet again on the hunt to gain a crack at genuine world honors. Samuel was kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule to discuss his career and bright future, only on SaddoBoxing.com

SaddoBoxing: How are you today Samuel?

Samuel Peter: "I’m fine, how you doing?"

SB: I’m Great, Thanks. Congratulations on your great win against Robert Hawkins back in December.

SP: "Thank you."

SB: How do you feel about your performance in that fight?

SP: "I thought I was okay."

SB: If you get a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko what will you to differently the second time around?

SP: "I would come out big time. This time there would be no playing around."

SB: When will we see you in the ring again?

SP: "Well anytime, I’m supposed to fight in April; I’m just waiting to see what’s going to happen."

SB: Who would you prefer to fight next?

SP: "Anybody that is ready to fight, I will beat them."

SB: Is a fight with Shannon Briggs a possibility? I know there’s been a lot of talk going on between you two.

SP: "I don’t know yet, but if somebody’s talking they’re not fighting; I’ve had enough of that."

SB: Do you have a prediction for the Wladimir Klitschko vs. Chris Byrd fight?

SP: "The best man will win."

SB: What’s your opinion on the current state of the heavyweight division?

SP: "It’s kind of slow; we need people that are going to be there and make the heavyweight division exciting again."

SB: Who do you consider to be the best heavyweight in the world?

SP: "That’s Me."

SB: How about other than yourself?

SP: (laughing) "Well, I don’t know yet."

SB: Is there anything you’d like to tell your fans in closing?

SP: "I just want to thank my fans because without them I would not be anybody. I thank them for all their support and coming to see me."

SB: Thanks for your time today, Samuel

SP: "Thank you very much."
