April the 2nd sees Dean Phillips the unheralded hard-punching lightweight from Wales continue his march towards fulfilling his ambition of winning a major title when he tops the bill for the second time on a Maloney Promotions London show at the York Hall, Bethnal Green.
Phillips steps in with his most dangerous opponent to date in former European and World-class super-featherweight Tontcho Tontchev of Bulgaria. The irony of the bout is that Phillips is now under the Maloney Promotions banner while Tonthcev was one of Maloney's former 'Golden
Boys' in the days of Panix Promotions.
To use the old cliche this is a crossroads fight, Tontchev needs to re-establish himself after some patchy performances and Phillips needs to continue on the success of his first fight under Maloney Promotions when he blew away the normally durable Jon Honney in under two rounds.
Also added to the bill is exciting Kent based lightweight Leo O'Reilly who is looking to get an eliminator with Phillips or to make a claim on the English title.
Undefeated lightweight prospect Lee Cook and the big ticket selling international Kreshniqk Qato also appear on the production.
This promotion sees the Maloney's revert back to where they established themselves with a Sunday afternoon show and anyone fed up with the abundance of football on television can have an alternative of blood and thunder and real sportsman as opposed to the showmen and divers.
The show takes place at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on April 2nd, the doors open at 3pm and the first fight will be at 3.30pm. Tickets for the show can be purchased online at http://www.maloneypromotions.com or via the ticket hotline on 0871 226 1508.
