It’s the classic crossroads matchup – two unbeaten fighters zooming to the top finally meet with the winner being allowed to move forward while the loser is forced to regroup. On May 18, cruiserweights Felix Cora and Vadim Tokarev will put their undefeated records on the line when they face each other in a featured bout on “Tribal Pride’ at the Seminole Hard Rock Live Arena in Hollywood, Florida.
“Tribal Pride’, which is headlined by the Interim IBF Lightweight Championship bout between Ricky Quiles (39-6-3, 8 KOs) and Julio Diaz (32-3, 24 KOs), will air live on pay-per-view beginning at 9 pm ET / 6 pm PT.
Also on the card, interim WBA super bantamweight champion Celestino Caballero (24-2, 17 KOs) returns to US shores for the first time in a year when he defends his crown against Moises Castro (24-6-1, 14 KOs) in a bout scheduled for 12 rounds, and former K-1 kickboxing superstar Siala "Mighty Mo" Siliga will be making his professional boxing debut in a heavyweight bout.
An outstanding amateur who has duplicated that success in the professional ranks, Galveston, Texas’ Felix “Bad News’ Cora (18-0-2, 9 KOs) is knocking on the door of world title shot. Current owner of the USBA and NABF cruiserweight titles, Cora is coming off a near-shutout ten round decision over hard-hitting Darnell Wilson on March 24th, and when the opportunity came for him to jump back in the ring less than two months later, Cora jumped at the chance.
Vadim Tokarev (21-0-1, 14 KOs) is far from an easy mark though, and at 34, the native of Ekaterinburg, Russia has an urgent desire to get to the top as soon as possible – something that can be made a lot easier if he can pin the first loss on Cora’s record. A veteran of almost six years in the pro ring, Tokarev has held the Russian and IBF Intercontinental cruiserweight titles, and he holds wins over the aforementioned Wilson, Michael Simms, and former world champion Arthur Williams. This will be his first fight in the United States.
Tickets for Tribal Pride are priced at $25, $50, $100, and $150. They are available at The Hard Rock Live Box Office at The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com. Doors open at 6:30PM, the first bell rings at 7:30PM.
