Impact Boxing Weigh-in Carey Turns up Late

By Boxing Press May 5th, 2006 All Press Releases

The weigh-in for the two title fights to be held at Stoke’s Kings Hall tomorrow 6th May were held this afternoon at ST1 Club in Hanley. Scott Lawton defends his Midlands Area Lightweight title against Baz Carey and Gary Reid and Kevin McIntyre will face off for the vacant British Masters Title.

The weigh-in had been scheduled to take place at 4 pm but at the appointed time there was no sign of Baz Carey. Despite having travelled down from Paisley Kevin McIntyre and his team were there at the appointed time. McIntyre weighed-in first and registered 9st 13lbs 2 oz, he was followed by Gary Reid who tipped the scales at 9st 13lbs 6oz.

Carey eventually arrived almost an hour late and his tardiness was blamed on the notorious traffic problems associated with the M6 on a Friday afternoon. If Carey is as well prepared for his title challenge with Scott Lawton tomorrow evening he will be returning to Coventry empty handed. Both Carey and Lawton weighed-in at 9st 7lbs 4oz.

Whilst hanging around for Carey some of the other Team Impact lads took the opportunity to check their weights before tomorrow’s event. Jimmy “The Whirlwind’ Doherty registered 10st 6lbs; Danny Johnston 11st and Chris Edwards tested the scales at 8st.

Demand for tickets has been high and in response Impact Boxing have been able to make additional seats available. Tickets for the show at The Kings Hall, Stoke will therefore be available on the door.
