Friday Night Fights: Northeast Boxing Promotions

By Boxing Press May 11th, 2006 All Press Releases

Northeast Promotions in association with El Paso Professional Baseball LP presents ESPN 2 “Friday Night Fights” live from Cohen Stadium in El Paso, Texas on May 26, 2006. Headlining the bout in a 12 round USBA Welterweight title fight, will be Delvin Rodriguez (18 – 1 – 1 10 KO’s) Danbury, CT vs. Luis Hernandez (15 – 2 8KO’s) Newark, NJ.

Rodriguez, who has won his last 8 fights in convincing fashion, will be facing a major step up in class when he battles Hernandez. In his last outing on February 24, 2006 at the Fed Ex Forum in Memphis, TN, Rodriguez won by disqualification in the fourth round over Alex Division because of excessive punches to the back of the head and low blows. Rodriguez has developed into one of those “must see” performers on TV. He has been involved in numerous exciting contests where something out of the ordinary always seems to take place.

Hernandez, who has won 3 straight fights, including a 4th round KO of Josh Onyango on November 7, 2005 at the Blue horizon in Philadelphia, PA is noted for being a very rugged and tough competitor inside the ring. He has given top prospects Paul Williams and Chris Smith their toughest fights to date. He will provide Rodriguez with a very stren test.

Tickets may be purchased at the Cohen Stadium ticket office or by calling 915.755.2000
