Moments after meeting the American press in Boston for the first time, Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton spoke exclusively to SaddoBoxing.com. Hatton is just two days away from the biggest fight of his storied career, a WBA Welterweight title challenge against reigning champion Luis Collazo. The body punching nightmare can't wait to deliver his patented style of aggressive pressure on the |
Fight Academy/Banner co-promotion as it will be seen by millions in the US on HBO and in the UK on Sky Box Office.
SaddoBoxing: How has your time in American been so far?
Ricky Hatton: "I'm really enjoying myself, Boston is a great fight city but I understand that there hasn't been a major title fight here for 25 years. Hopefully I'll bring the trend back."
SB: By now you've met your opponent Luis Collazo, what do you think?
RH: "He's a nice guy, confident and respectful. He gave me six bottles of Guinness as a present. (laughs) I'm sure that'll take me all of five minutes to drink at the after fight party (laughs)."
SB: With this your US debut and third world title fight in a row, what are your days like?
RH: "I've been very, very busy and it seems I spend all day doing interviews (laughs) it's just been bedlam really but I'm enjoying it."
SB: What can the audience in Boston and viewers on TV expect to see in the fight?
RH: "The same thing that I've showed in my last 40 fights. I believe that I'm the most exciting fighter in boxing and that I've always given good value for money. I'm the same old Ricky Hatton, it's just that now I'm in America and I plan on showing the Americans what the fans in Britain have been seeing all along."
