Mitchell Plans East End Boxing Knees Up

By Boxing Press May 13th, 2006 All Press Releases

IBF Intercontinental Super-Featherweight champion Kevin Mitchell is hoping to rack up an East End double tonight. Mitchell is backing his side West Ham to KO Liverpool in the FA Cup Final - and says he'll follow it up by hammering Kirkor Kirkorov at the home of London boxing The York Hall. And to celebrate, die-hard Hammers fan Mitchell is having a traditional East End Knees Up to celebrate.

The 21-year-old Dagenham terror said, "The party is all booked in and ready to go. We've got a pub lined up in the East End to go to straight after my fight and I hope West Ham do the job earlier in the day because I know that I'm going to a job on Kirkorov,"

He added, "Even though I don't drink the atmosphere will be something special as everyone will be on a high if the Hammers bring the cup home for the first! time since 1981,"

West Ham may start as the underdogs on Saturday, but Mitchell reckons they can pull off the kind of upset the FA Cup is famous for.

"I reckon we can do it, and I'm predicting a 1-0 or 2-0 scoreline," said Mitchell who is unbeaten in 18 fights with 12 knockouts.

"But it will be closer than my fight because I'm going to bash up Kirkorov whether the Hammers win or lose."

Mitchell headlines the Sports Network Brat Pack show to be televised live on ITV4 from 9pm.

English Welterweight Champion Ross Minter, who was due to defend his title against Alan Bosworth as chief-support on the show, suffered a perforated ear-drum in his last sparring session leading up to the show and following medical advice has been advised to withdraw.

English Lightweight Champion Danny Hunt takes on Monuir Guebbas over 10 rounds in a non-title contest.
