Sturm Stops Cherifi!

By Boxing Press December 4th, 2004 All Boxing News, Boxing Results

German middleweight star Felix Sturm continued the trend of vicious body punches that was started this year by the likes of Arturo Gatti, Bernard Hopkins and Felix Trinidad by stopping French toughguy Hassine Cherifi with a single left hook to the body in the third round tonight in Germany. The fight is the prelude to the big European heavyweight championship clash between champion Luan Krasniqi and challenger Timo Hoffman (that result still to come). Sturm made a name for himself in June of this year by outworking, and many thought doing enough to beat Oscar de la Hoya. However, De La Hoya was adjudged to have done enough on all three cards and took Sturm's WBO middleweight title. Sturm called out any and all challengers from America in his after-fight interview.
