Undefeated British Bantamweight Champion Martin Power clashes tonight with an unbeaten challenger, Isaac Ward, tonight at London's historic York Hall on a Maloney Promotion card televised by Sky Sports. Power, of nearby St. Pancras, has built up an 18-0 (7) record by slashing through such good domestic opposition as Dale Robinson, Ian Napa and Shinny Bayaar. Ward, 13-0-2 (1), of Darlington in the North of England, has proved adept at getting past good journeyman stock so far but has yet to face an opponent of Power's grade. But Ward is not without skill and has fought much of his career at feather and even super feather. Power will have plenty of incentive to win this one as he will be defending the British title and looking to prove that his close call against Ian Napa last November was just a fluke.
Other fighters on the bill include a score of unbeaten Maloney Promotions' prospects; the flashy unbeaten light middle from Deptford, Anthony Small, talented Lewisham cruiserweight Junior MacDonald, Chislehurst's exciting light middle Sam Webb and West Ham featherweight Lloyd Otte. The Maloneys will also unveil three fighters making their pro debuts; Akaash Bhatia, Chris Pacey and Clifford Smith.
