Irish super bantam Bernard Dunne put on a clinic last night at the National Stadium in Dublin, outboxing American tourist David "El Finito" Martinez over the course of the bout until the action was called less than a minute into the eighth round. There are several attractive potential domestic matchups for Dunne, 21-0 (13), particulalry against the likes of current European, Commonwealth and British Champion Michael Hunter or Esham Pickering, a former owner of those belts. In other action, Jim Rock, 27-4 (8), rolled over Kevin Phelan, 10-7 (4), via seventh round stoppage to grab the Irish Middleweight title and Oisin Fagan, 16-3 (9), stopped Jeff Thomas, 9-6-1 (1), also in the seventh, to take the vacant Irish Light Welter belt.
