Silverhawk Boxing has signed former world title challenger Corey
“Primetime” Johnson (33-2-2, 11 KOs) to an exclusive promotional contract. Detroit-native Johnson, 35, fought Kosta Tszyu for the International Boxing Federation light welterweight title in 1996. The slick southpaw captured the IBC light welterweight championship in 1994 by fifth-round TKO of Louis Ramirez.
Johnston has defeated previously unbeaten Patrick Washington (20-0) by seventh-round TKO, Francisco Cuesto (29-5-1) by 10th-round KO, Patrick Byrd (14-7) by 10-round decision and fought draws against Al Hassan (19-0) and Shannon Taylor (14-0).
“Corey has been in the ring with some of the best in the business, including his new stablemate, Stevie Johnston,” Silverhawk president Dennis Rider said. “He has a lot of valuable experience and we believe he has a lot of gas left in his tank. Silverhawk has had success signing other Detroit fighters like Leo Nolan and Rubin Williams We look forward to working with Corey and promoting him in some big fights.”
Mora is managed by Rider Boxing and trained by Henry Hill.
