Universally recognized light welterweight champion of the world Kostya Tszyu has denied assertations emanating from English promoter Frank Warren that he is close to securing a fight between Tszyu and his leading charge Ricky Hatton. Tszyu however has refuted this and remains open to other options despite Hatton being his IBF mandated challenger. Tszyu's last fight was a dominating stoppage performance against Sharmba Mitchell and Hatton is set to fight veteran Ray Oliveira in London this weekend. Hatton has indicated that he will not be removed from the mandatory IBF status and if Tszyu does not fight him and the champion is stripped, Hatton will be available to contest the title with the next available ranked contender. Stay tuned for more on this story as it happens.
