Ireland’s John Duddy has been sidelined by heat prostration and dehydration, and will be unable to appear on the August 10 fight card at the Orleans in Las Vegas, it was announced today by Irish Ropes. Due to the hot temperatures in New York during the past few weeks, Duddy’s training regimen has been severely curtailed, and doctors have advised Duddy to postpone the fight.
“John is doing fine now,” said Irish Ropes advisor Jim Borzell, “but trying to do his roadwork and train at Gleason’s during the New York hot spell affected his health and his training.
“John is disappointed for his fans expecting the Vegas fight,” added Borzell, “but there is no way he could be ready to go on August 10. We look forward to a big fall fight in September in New York for John.”
Duddy is one of the hottest prospects to hit the boxing scene in decades, putting together a 17 fight win streak, including 15 victories by way of knockout, to the delight of his legions of fans throughout the country.
