Boxing Info: Danny Green - Jason Delisle

By Boxing Press August 9th, 2006 All Press Releases

Stuart Duncan today confirmed that negotiations had been successful which will see Jason Delisle rematch with Danny Green in September in Perth. Delisle who had a win over Green in the amateurs was beaten by Danny back in June 2003 when he struggled moving down to Super Middleweight. We see this as the perfect fight for Jason and a more level playing field at Light Heavyweight said Duncan.

Since their last encounter Jason has gone onto win 7 of 10 bouts with Danny winning 5 from 8 outings. Both boxers are coming of losses, Green to Mundine & Delisle to Clinton Woods who he fought in England 12 weeks ago for the IBF Light Heavy weight World Title.

Since their last encounter both have stepped up seeing Jason square off against the likes of Clinton Woods twice & Julio Gonzalez ~ while Green has gone onto the ilk of WBC Champ Marcus Beyer twice after he comfortably dismantled Eric Lucas in Canada & Anthony Mundine.

Delisle speaking from his home in Sydney stated “This is a rematch I really wanted and I am so much more confident & comfortable going into it knowing I wont struggle making the weight. I was disappointed after our last fight as I didn’t feel I was able to give it my usual 120% and against Danny anything less than that wont get you a win. I have a win over him as an amateur and he has one over me as a pro, I see this as my chance to balance the ledger”.

Delisle’s trainer Dino Billinghurst said that “he was confident that the experience Jason has had since they last fought combined with the weight & having fought Danny before were all positives going into this fight. Jason has proven he can go the distance taking both Julio Gonzalez & taking World Champ Clinton Woods the distance (after dropping him in the first round) and causing problems for both. At 78.5kg I believe Jason is at full strength and he will be going into the ring to knock Danny out.”
