8 Count Boxing Finalizes Chicago Superstars Lineup

By Boxing Press August 22nd, 2006 All Press Releases

Featherweights Jose Hernandez and Lenny DeVictoria Clash at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago this Friday on a bill that also sees six outstanding bouts and newly crowned WBC interim Lightweight World Champion David Diaz honored. Diaz, who won his title with a stunning 10th round TKO of Jose Armando Santa Cruz on Saturday, August 12th in Las Vegas, NV as part of the HBO Pay Per View broadcast, will return to the scene of two of his biggest wins, over Jaime Rangel and Silverio Ortiz.

Said Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions, “We’ve got a terrific evening of boxing planned and knowing how much our fans love David, we’ve decided to make this a welcome home party for him after his huge win. Our main event is a great featherweight matchup between Jose Hernandez (20-3, 13KO’s) and Lenny DeVictoria, (8-4, 2KO’s) from Philadelphia. Jose’s looking to stay in the win column following his win over Anthony Martinez this past June and DeVictoria is a typical “tough as nails’ type of kid from Philadelphia.”

“The co-main is a true welterweight showdown between Luciano Perez, (13-4-1, 12KO’s) and Francisco Rincon, 11-3 (6KO’s) of Dallas. Our fans love warriors like Jose and Luciano and they’re both in against very good fighters which should make for a couple of terrific fights.

“Our undercard features heavyweight Mike Mollo, Rita Figueroa, Barbaro Zepeda and a kid who made his pro debut with a fantastic knockout at our last show, Ashour Esho. Our fans have seen Rita and Barbaro fight often on our shows and they’re always in great fights.”

“From top to bottom, our matchmaker Jerry Alfano has put together six very competitive bouts which is what our fans want and we’ve become known for.”

The full fight card is as follows;

Jose Hernandez vs. Lenny DeVictoria, 8 rounds, featherweights
Luciano Perez vs. Francisco Rincon, 8 rounds, welterweights
Barbaro Zepeda vs. Yamin Mohammed, 8 rounds, featherweights
Mike Mollo vs. Willie Walker, 6 rounds, heavyweights
Rita Figueroa vs. Leora Jackson, 6 rounds, lightweights
Ashour Esho vs. Will Diamond, 6 rounds, super lightweights

The open to the public weigh-in for this event will take place on Thursday, August 24th
at Marisco El Veneno Restaurant, 6651 S. Pulaski starting at 7pm.

The Aragon Ballroom is located at 1106 W. Lawrence Avenue on the north side of Chicago. Doors for this event will open at 7pm; with the first bell scheduled for 8pm. Tickets starting at $25 are available in advance by calling 312-226-5800.
