Peltz Boxing Adds Exciting Undercard To Brisson - Jones

By Boxing Press September 12th, 2006 All Press Releases

Crowd pleasing Richard Stewart faces one of his toughest tests as a pro when he takes on veteran Ron Boddie in a scheduled six-round light-heavyweight contest Friday, Sept. 29, at the New Alhambra, Swanson & Ritner Streets, next to Forman Mills, in South Philadelphia. First of seven fights at 7.30 p.m.

Topping the card is a scheduled 10-round junior welterweight fight between Chad Brisson, of Broomall, PA, via Canada, and Russell Stoner Jones, of Denver, CO, via Ghana.

CN8 will televise the Brisson-Jones and Stewart-Boddie fights on delay (Oct. 7, 7 pm) to more than seven million homes from Maine to Maryland.

Stewart, 30, of New Castle, DE, is the older brother of world-rated junior welterweight Mike Stewart. Richard turned pro midway through 2004 as a 290-pound heavyweight and slowly has worked his way into fighting condition as a light-heavyweight.

He is 2-0-1 at the New Alhambra, boxing a six-round draw there June 16 with cruiserweight Glenn Turner, of West Philadelphia. In his last fight Aug. 25 at Dover (DE) Downs Slots, Stewart earned a four-round decision over Cameron Bright, of West Philadelphia.

Boddie, 31, of West Philadelphia, has fought some of the best super middleweights and light-heavyweights up and down the East Coast. His 15-33-5 record, 7 K0s, includes bouts with such top men as Randy Griffin (three times), Larry Marks, Chad Dawson, Anthony Hanshaw and Elvir Muriqi.

In his last fight Aug. 2 in Ocean City, MD, Boddie dropped a six-round decision to unbeaten (9-0) Mike Paschall.

Turner also will box on the card, taking on William Bailey, of Chesapeake, VA, in a six-round rematch. They boxed a draw Feb. 11 in Philadelphia. All three judges had it 56-56, although Bailey was penalized two points for low blows in the third round.

The 36-year-old Turner is 8-3-3, 2 KOs. Bailey, also 36, is 4-10-2, 2 K0s.

Another six-round contest features super middleweights Omar Pittman, of North Philadelphia, against Alfred Kinsey, of Atlantic City, NJ.

Pittman, 23, is coming off his career-best performance July 27 when he knocked out New York’s Victor Paz in two rounds at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT. Overall, Pittman is 11-3, 7 K0s.

Kinsey, 27, also had his best performance in his last outing. That was Feb. 10 in Coral Gables, FL, when he upset Aneudi Santos, of New York, scoring an eight-round decision.

Welterweights Kaseem Wilson, of North Philadelphia, and Hector Rosario, of San Juan, Puerto Rico, collide in a six-round bout.

Wilson, a 20-year-old lefty, is 4-0-1, 2 K0s. Rosario, 21, is 2-0.

Two additional bouts complete the card.

Tickets are priced at $35, $45 and $50. They are on sale at the offices of Peltz Boxing (215-765-0922) or they can be purchased online at www.peltzboxing.com.
