By Boxing Press September 15th, 2006 All Press Releases

Pro boxing goes on the diamond September 30th with "Battles at the Ballpark," featuring welterweights Robert "La Ameneza" Garcia and Homer "The Natural" Gibbons in the 10-round main event, at Edinburg Baseball Field in Edinburg, Texas.

"Battles at the Ballpark" is promoted by Julio Marines in association with Silverhawk Championship Boxing.

Garcia (20-2, 15 KOs), former WBC CABOF Interim welterweight champion, takes on Georgia veteran Gibbons (44-14, 31 KOs), the reigning IBU welterweight title-holder.

In the six-round co-feature, WBF All-American cruiserweight champion BJ " El Peligroso" Flores (16-0-1, 11 KOs) takes on Midwest heavyweight champ Gary "Twisted Steel" Dydell (8-2, 6 KOs). Flores, fighting out of Phoenix, is one of the hottest prospects in the cruiserweight division.

In a six-round Special Light Welterweight Attraction, Adrian Mora (15-0-1, 8 KOs) puts his unbeaten record on the line against Frans Hantindi, ex-WBA Pan African welterweight champion. The World Boxing Council rates Mora, fighting out of Colorado, No. 38.

On the undercard, former Texas lightweight champion Pablo Pena faces Gilberto Elizondo (3-1, 1 KO) in a six-round bout; light heavyweight Raul "El Tigre" Cazares (10-2, 4 KOs) meets Josh Burns (3-4-5, 1 KO) in another six-round; lightweight Mario Hernandez (4-0, 2 KOs) tangles with Pedro Silva (0-1), while Edgar Hernandez (4-0) squares off against Efren Diaz (5-9, 1 KO) in pair of four-round matches. All fighters and bouts are subject to change.

Doors open at 6:30 PM, first bout at 7 PM. Tickets, priced at $10.00 (general admission) and $40.00 (ringside), are available by calling 956.206.9543, 956.463.4485 or 956.292.5831.
