Explosive Boxing Undercard Supports Green vs. DeLisle Showdown!

ByBoxing Press 19/09/200612/05/2013
With the hours counting down to Green Machine Promotions’ hotly anticipated IBF Pan Pacific/PABA Light Heavyweight Clash between arch rivals Danny Green and Jason “The Nailer” DeLisle at Challenge Stadium in Perth, Australia this Wednesday, 20 September,

Green Machine Promotions Director Justin Manolikos is ecstatic about the high quality support bouts on the bill. “We’ve put together the best undercard that we’ve ever produced,” exclaimed Manolikos.

“We’ve got Bob Mirovic at heavyweight, light heavyweights Daniel Lovett and Adrian Bellin going head to head, plus undefeated light middleweight Daniel Dawson, who is 23-0. We’ve got a couple of young kids on the card; Tyrone Tongia, who was on the Green – Mundine undercard and Mohamed Elomar, so it’s a very good fight card.”

Topping it all off is a certified barn burner between a couple of true adversaries in former world title challengers Danny Green and Jason DeLisle, who will meet at light heavyweight and the stakes couldn’t be higher. “We’re calling the main event ‘The Decider’ “, said Manolikos, who is also Green’s manager. “It will be for the IBF Pan Pacific and PABA Light Heavyweight titles.

“Both boxers want to prove they still have what it takes to get to the top. Green has already been installed as #14 in the WBA Light Heavy rankings and a win here will move him up further as well as having him rated with the IBF. Winning this bout potentially allows one of these guys to fight their next fight for the world title against either WBA Champion Fabrice Tiozzo or the IBF Champion, Clinton Woods.”

Green, 21-3 (19), and DeLisle, 18-5-2 (9), already have a bit of a past with DeLisle winning an amateur match but Green knocking out “The Nailer” as a professional in 2003. While Green has recently campaigned at super middle, even winning the Interim WBC belt several years ago with a sixth round stoppage against Eric Lucas, Manolikos doesn’t put much stock in the Perth native’s jump up in weight. “Everyone is saying how it’s great to see Danny at light heavy instead of a super middle,” he said, “but to be brutally honest, Danny has only ever fought at super middleweight for his title fights.”

While clearly energized by the Green – DeLisle headliner, the promoter insists that the undercard isn’t one to miss. “The promotion going to be on Pay-Per-View here in Australia, on MainEvent and Foxtel,” said Manolikos. “It’s being held here in Perth, Western Australia, which is Danny’s hometown and we expect a sellout again at Challenge Stadium. This is the sixth promotion we’ve had here in Perth with Danny being the headliner and basically, they’ve all been sell outs and I don’t expect this one to be any different.

“Light heavyweight Daniel Lovett, 12-2 (7), and Adrian Bellin,16-4-1 (12), both from Victoria, meet in what promises to be an absolute cracker of a fight that would not be out of place for the Australian or even a regional title; Western Australia’s Daniel ‘The Rock’ Dawson, 23-0 (15), faces Filipino fighter Dindo ‘Diesel’ Castañares, 16-4-2 (12), After a brief return to kick boxing, Daniel is keen to return to the boxing ring and continue his unblemished record. There won’t be any holding back here as ‘Diesel’ either knocks down or gets knocked down.;

“Big Bob Mirovic, 27-16-2 (18), of New South Wales goes up against Fiji’s Fatu Tui Tuimanon, 7-6-1 (6), at heavyweight and Big Bob wants to keep active in his quest to capture the WBF world title that he narrowly lost to the USA’s Rob Calloway so expect him to come out swinging; New South Wales featherweight favorite Mohamed Elomar, 12-0 (4), gets Pedro Malco, 14-11-1 (5), of the Philippines in a six rounder;

“Light Middle Tyrone ‘Cyclone’ Tongia, 2-0-0 (1), of Queensland squares off against Western Australia’s Robbie Bryant for a four rounder at a catch weight of 70 kg (154 lb) in what is Bryant’s pro debut. Can Tyrone continue his impressive move into the professional ranks or will Robbie make a big impression in his pro debut?”

Green Machine Promotions’ Danny Green vs. Jason DeLisle IBF Pan Pacific/PABA Light Heavyweight title clash will be held on Wednesday, September 20 at Challenge Stadium in Perth, Australia. First bout begins at 5.15PM with the main event expected to be at 7.15PM. Tickets are available for the event through Ticketmaster on 136100 or the following link http://www.ticketmaster.com.au/. This card will also be shown live on MainEvent and Foxtel, click on http://www.mainevent.com.au/home.asp to learn more.

    Chris Billam Smith fighting for Zuffa for the first time this Saturday. I think he is being set up to face Jai Opetia later in the contract. Chris got easily beaten by Zurdo in a unification and we all kn […]

  • Where does Usyk go from here? 27/05/2026
    For once, I’m totally on board with the WBC. WBC moves to shut down Usyk-Verhoeven rematch talk I personally have NO wish to see a rematch between Rico and Usyk. Call it defensiveness of our sport. Just like I thought Fury’s narrow escape against Ngannou was cringeworthy… I also feel a sense of dread that we came “this close” to having a kickboxer defeat the […]
