Sharon Anyos successfully defended her WBC Female Featherweight Title last night at the Southport Sharks Club in Southport, Australia. Referee Brad Vocale stopped the contest at 1:37 of the round six. Challenger Esther Schouten put up a very creditable performance but a cut-eye sustained in the fourth round by two crisp right hands of her opponent changed the complex of the fight. She was very gallant but Anyos was too strong.
Both women exhibited great Sportswoman-ship. When the Doctors did not approve of Esther's groin guard, Sharon lent Schouten her spare one. According to WBC Supervisor Frank Hadley, the sportsmanship between these two women is the best he'd ever seen.
