The United States Marine Corps Boxing Team from Camp Lejeune, NC will compete at Foxwoods Resort Casino in the 3rd Annual Veterans Day Spectacular on Thursday, November 9, 2006.
This action packed Olympic style amateur boxing event features a select team from the northeast. Included are representatives from the All Army Team at West Point, Native American Boxers from Seneca Nation in Upstate New York, the Coast Guard Academy in New London and members of USA Boxing, CT.
In its third year the event has a patriotic theme and all branches of the armed services will be present either inside or outside the ring.
“As President of USA Boxing Connecticut I am proud to be involved in this exciting and colorful event” stated Roland Roy who serves the 400 members of the Connecticut Association. “It’s a highly symbolic event in fact the 10th of November is the 231st Marine Corps birthday celebration so I am sure their team will be well represented.”
The format of the event includes a tribute to local veterans and a large contingency of neighboring towns is expected.
