British Champion Moore Faces Macklin Tonight In Manchester

By Boxing Press September 29th, 2006 All Press Releases

Rugged British Light Middleweight Champion Jamie Moore puts his cherished Lonsdale Belt on the line tonight against Irish Middleweight Champion Matthew Macklin on a Maloney Promotion from the sold out GH Carnall Centre in Manchester, England.

In his second reign as British Champion, Moore, 24-3 (17), puts his title at risk against a bigger, stronger and younger man in the form of the hungry Macklin, 17-1 (13), who has sworn to bring the domestic belt back to Birmingham before continuing his hunt for Irish middleweight contender John Duddy in America.

This awesome pairing of two hugely popular and crowd pleasing fighters is just a taste of things to come as promoter Frank Maloney reveals this is only the first of three mouth-watering boxing shows he has got planned for the new season. "I am committed to boxing and will deliver the best shows, giving the fans what they want" says Maloney. "British boxing needs new blood and I won't rest until I produce the next big star".

A full undercard of quality boxing supports the main event with welterweight Ali Nuumbembe, light welter Craig Watson, light middle Mark Thompson, light welter John Fewkes, lightweight Chris Pacey, light middle Brett Flournoy, middleweight Alex Matvienko, and super bantam Stuart McFadyen all scheduled for action.

The Jamie Moore vs. Matthew Macklin British Light Middleweight Championship fight card takes place on Friday, 29 September at the GH Carnall Leisure Centre, located on Kingsway Park, Davyhulme, Manchester, England, M41 7FJ. Sky Sports will televise live on SS1 starting at 22:00. For additional information contact Jeff Lewington on 0844 477 6466 or log onto www.frankmaloney.com
