By Boxing Press October 1st, 2006 All Press Releases

Fresh off his latest victory in his hometown of Hartford, Connecticut, undefeated Mike Oliver (16-0, 7 KO's) enters Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, October 28th to battle Adam Carrera (18-1, 8 KO's) from Cathedral City, California in a 12-round bout for the vacant USBA Super Bantamweight Championship. The undercard features a group of young talented Massachusetts fighters including Joe McCreedy (5-0, 4 KO's) from Lowell, Tony LaMonica (2-0, 1 KO) from South Boston, Chris McInerny (5-0-1, 4 KO's) from Stoughton, Enrigue Palan (5-0, 4 KO's) and Edwin Rosado (1-1, 1 KO) both from Worcester. And making their pro debuts also from Massachusetts will be Melvin Rivera from Worcester and Matt Ryan from South Boston.

Rivera will battle fellow New Englander, Angel Camacho (2-0, 2 KO's) from Providence, Rhode Island in 4-round Super Middleweight bout.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, September 30th for $75.00, $40.00 and $25.00, and will be available through the Mohegan Sun Box Office and Ticketmaster. To purchase tickets, log on to ticketmaster.com, call Ticketmaster at 860.886.0070 or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.

At 122 pounds, Oliver is an up-and-coming Super Bantamweight contender. Since turning pro in September of 2001, the 5-foot-5 southpaw has been battling through the competition in eye-popping fashion. In his most impressive performance to date, he dominated Oscar De La Cruz in a 6-round bout at the Connecticut Convention Center, flooring De La Cruz twice to score a unanimous decision. With a win at Mohegan Sun on October 28th, Oliver could be poised for a world title fight.
