Don “Da’ Bomb” George: “I’ll be back New York!”

This past Friday night highly touted middleweight prospect Donovan George was to make his much-anticipated Madison Square Garden debut as part of the Duddy-Campas under card. It was not to be though as George’s opponent, Gabriel Rivera, failed his E.K.G. exam the day prior to the fight prompting the New York State Athletic Commission to disqualify him as an opponent. “I took his heart even before we went into the ring. I’m use to doing that to the ladies, but I guess I should now get use to fighters looking at me and not having the heart to take their beatings like men”, said a frustrated Donovan George.

It was a real tough break for George as he was ready to steal the show that night. “I was on fire man and could feel that I was going to be the only fight that the great Irish people at the Madison Square Garden would remember. I worked so damn hard to make sure that I represented my Irish roots and was ready to show them who the real top Irish-American middleweight prospect was that night.” George continued, “Don’t worry, I’ll be back New York!”

Cestus Management’s chief advisor, Mike Michael, stated, “We were really disappointed that this happened as Don was ready to really put it on Rivera and show the large Irish-American community in attendance that he was the man to cheer for that night.”

Michael added, “These types of things happen in boxing and there was nothing that could be done. Cestus Management worked hard to find a replacement, but no one wants to fight Donovan. It’s getting really hard to get someone in the ring with this kid. It seems that every middleweight out there has locked their doors and ran for cover. That doesn’t matter as Don will be back very soon and we will show that he is a force that can’t be stopped!”
