Boxing’s “Atomic Spider” Looking To Spoil Again On British Soil

By Boxing Press October 5th, 2006 All Press Releases

This past June, undefeated British Bantamweight Champion Martin Power was shocked by the unrelenting ferocity applied to him by South African visitor Tshifhiwa "Atomic Spider" Munyai, who battered the London man from pillar to post before Power's own corner pulled the plug in the ninth to save the British Champion from lasting damage. With the surprising victory in London's famed York Hall, Munyai went from an unknown to become the Commonwealth Bantamweight Champion.

Tomorrow night in the very same boxing ring, Munyai will look to pull off another upset, this time against Commonwealth Flyweight Champion Lee Haskins. Munyai will literally represent a tall order for the much shorter man from Bristol as Haskins faces an energetic, nearly 6 foot, spider-like champion who has already tarnished the ambitions of several promising fighters during his young career.

While some are backing the shifty southpaw style of Haskins to give the champion problems, Munyai has vowed to not only defend his Commonwealth title but to bring the scalp of another Englishman back home to South Africa.

Maloney Promotions in association with Sanigar Events presents the Commonwealth Bantamweight Championship between Tshifhiwa Munyai and Lee Haskins at York Hall in London, England on Friday, 6 October. Sky Sports will televise the main event live on SS1 commencing at 22:00. Tickets are priced £30 and £60 and are available by calling the Maloney Promotions box office at 0871 226 1508 or by logging onto to www.maloneypromotions.com
