At the Town Hall, Walsall, Friday night – local boxer Martin Gethin lost the IBF Light-Weight Title Final Eliminator to Panamanian – Ammeth Diaz.
Also on the Frank Warren and Errol Johnson promoted fight-night – Walsall man Chris Keane lost out to Neil Dawson of Rotherham in their contest for the vacant WBO International Cruiserweight Title.

British Title holder Gethin started the fight cautiously while Diaz forced the pace in the opening rounds. But the Walsall man found himself on the canvas in the sixth round and appeared distracted by a bloody nose. He went to the canvas twice in round seven staying on his knee the second time while Referee Howard Foster counted him out. Diaz wins by seventh round TKO.
Gethin has since said that he suffered a blow to the ear which was proving a distraction.

A brave effort from Gethin who’s record now stands at 24 wins (11 by KO) 4 losses (2 by KO) and 1 draw
Chris Keane (Walsall) v Neil Dawson (Rotherham)
Vacant WBO International Cruiserweight Contest
Dawson landed a shot in the second round which saw Keane’s legs turn to jelly. Referee Richie Davies waved the fight off – Keane in no state to continue.

It was a messy start to this pro debut fight for Willshee and both men were told to ‘clean it up’ in round one. At the end of the opener Mason was on one knee. Fighting resumed and the Leamington man was on the canvas at the start of the second round but it was a slip. He went to the canvas again and was counted but Referee Shaun Messer waved the fight off.
Willshee gets ‘off the mark’ with a second round stoppage.
