Un-Managed, Un-Promoted, Un-Restricted
Daniel “The Haitian Sensation” Edouard, whose only pro loss is to middleweight king Jermain Taylor, has strung together a pair of impressive wins. What makes those wins impressive is the ex-middleweight turned super welterweight’s resurgent boxing ability. Edouard has been labeled a brawler for his many smash mouth fights similar to his 2004 train crash with Willie Gibbs.
“The Gibbs fight is really where people starting labeling me a brawler. In truth, I wanted to box with Gibbs but he caught me early and that caused me to go to plan B.”
“I have always been a boxer with a punch but when I fought Dorian I was going thru a style change and was more confused with the change than I let on.”
Speaking about his layoff Edouard continued, “Management and promotion issues are things that all boxers deal with. My time to deal with them were right after the Taylor fight. I am glad that mine are finally behind me. I hope that doesn’t sound inconsiderate but it is time for me to move on and move up.”
“I am not signed to a manager or a promoter and that puts me in a great position. I am looking to sign with both so managers and promoters get at me.”
With that Edouard laughs and starts jumping rope again.
Daniel Edouard recently won the WBA Fedecentro Light Middleweight Title and the vacant WBA Fedecaribe Light Middleweight Title. While he admits these titles are fringe he realizes that the wins that come with them are invaluable.
