A packed crowd at the Broncos Leagues Club in Red Hill, Australia on Friday night witnessed some incredible action which culminated in the crowning of a brand new XFC Middleweight Champion.
The first fight of the night set the pattern for the under card with an incredible first round stoppage - your winner was Tyrone Johns winner by submission.
Fight two saw the action continue at a fast and furious pace with Cameron Cooper scoring a TKO victory over Jiy Russell who was down within the first thirty seconds of the round but fought back gamely to nearly survive the Cooper onslaught. The referee waved it off with less than 5 seconds left in the first round.
In the third bout - Boxing - Adam Partridge and Jason Schubert trading plenty of punches in what was a 3 minute brawl. Both fighters at stages seemed to land telling blows but it was Partridge who emerged the winner with the referee calling a halt to the action right at the end of the 1st round.
Art Murie and Ferrid Khedder Fight Four XFC
Quickly into the first the French visitor Khedder took the fight to the ground and had Art Murie succumbing to a submission move.
It took five fights before we saw the wonderful round card girls strut their stuff and the crowd voiced their excitement when Marcio Bittencort and Steve Gillender finally lasted out a round. As the fight went into the second round the Brasillian Jui Jitsu fighter gained the upper hand and won via a submission.
With the crowd warming Robert Toomey and Andrew Gosden gave them the fight they were looking for, six rounds of total boxing excitement. Toomey the smother boxer with Gosden hitting stronger and taking the fight to his opponent.
The judges had a point or two between them but all for the winner Robert Toomey.
Main Event
If the crowd enjoyed the 6th fight then this was more than icing on the cake. An excellent introduction for the newly converted boxing fans to a MMA / XFC fighting. Kyle KO Noke had the hometown advantage over his American opponent and his strength advantage was clear from the start. Noke landed clean strikes with knees, fists and elbows. Trying to ground Noke at every turn Brian Ebersole seemed frustrated with Noke's ability to avoid the takedown and return fire with quality strikes of his own.
The judges were needed to decide a winner. The crowd had Noke a clear winner but only one judge saw different. In the end a split points decision to Noke and in the process he collected the XFC Middleweight Title.
Should these two ever glove up for a rematch do your best to get to the venue and enjoy the spectacle.
XFC and Red Corner are holding an event November 10 at the Logan Diggers - another night of mixed entertainment for the fans of both sports.
Thanks for a great night - See you at the fights
