Conflicting reports are circulating in the boxing world regarding the possibility of Kostya Tszyu's return to the ring against his mandated challenger by the IBF, England's Ricky Hatton. Tszyu is predictably adamant about doing what he alone intends to do in his future and remains unmoved by
reports from Hatton's promoter Frank Warren about a Tszyu-Hatton clash being finalized. Warren however is telling everyone within earshot that he has secured the fight and that everyone except Tszyu is in agreement. Tszyu indicated to the media that he has a greater desire to fight the likes of Arturo Gatti and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Unfortunately, both of those fighters are under contract to HBO while Tszyu remains under the Showtime banner, a divide that has proven almost impossible to bridge in the past. Hatton however is under Showtime's promotional guidance like Tszyu. Kostya Tszyu paid the IBF a considerable amount of money to keep his title earlier this year so it would seem nonsensical for him to give it up now for the sake of avoiding Hatton. Stay tuned for more details on this situation as they occur.
