Carl Johanneson Meets Femi Fehintola For The British Boxing Title

By Boxing Press October 24th, 2006 All Press Releases

Carl Johanneson, who is described as one of Britain most exciting fighters, makes the first defence of his British Super Featherweight title against Bradford’s Femi Fehintola at the Metrodome in Barnsley, England on November 3.

Johanneson, from Leeds, won his belt in sensational style at Bethnal Green’s York Hall last July against Wembley based Billy Corcoran, silencing the partisan London crowds in 4 action packed rounds. As Johanneson looks to stake his claim as Britain’s elite 130 lb fighter, not only is the famous Lonsdale belt on the line, but so are the bragging rights of the streets of Yorkshire.

Rivalry between the two camps has been intense and a good word hasn’t been said from either party about the other since the fight was signed

“I’m grateful that Carl has given me this opportunity to fight for his title, but I’m determined to make the most of my chance so I can emulate the recent success of my teammate and world champion Clinton Woods” says challenger Femi Fehintola. “I’ve also received words of encouragement from world’s pound for pounder Ricky Hatton and on the night of November 3, I hope to have both men in my corner.”

Chief support on the undercard features Sheffield’s John Fewkes looking to make it 13 unbeaten in the lightweight division and Manchester’s Mark Thompson going for 10 unbeaten at light middleweight. Ross Burkinshaw makes his pro debut on the show and the long awaited return of the former IBO Super Flyweight Champion Jason Booth will also feature.

Maloney Promotions presents Carl Johanneson vs. Femi Fehintola for the Super Featherweight Championship of Britain at the Metrodome in Barnsley, England on November 3, 2006. Tickets are on sale at £35 standard and £65 ringside through the Box Office 0871 226 1508 or online at www.frankmaloney.com
