Boxing Info: Jason Litzau Makes Impressive Chicago Debut

By Boxing Press October 25th, 2006 All Press Releases

Fight fans at Cicero Stadium this past Friday night were treated to the Chicagoland debut of undefeated featherweight prospect Jason "The American Boy" Litzau as he knocked out veteran Sammy Ventura in stunning fashion during the second round.

Among those attending was Chicago's most popular fighter, Jose Hernandez, who has earned the respect of fans and boxing writers across North America with televised displays of his warrior spirit.

Said Hernandez of Litzau, "I've seen him before, but this was my first time in person. He's a good fighter but he gets hit too much. We've both been dropped and gotten up to win big fights and we both have a lot of knockouts. A fight between the two of us would be an absolute war, someone would get KTFO."

About the possibility of fighting Litzau on an HBO Boxing After Dark show, Jose said, "I'm more than ready for that type of fight. It's a perfect TV fight, just like many of the fights I grew up watching with Barrera, Gatti and many of the guys in the lower weight classes. A fight like ours would be a throwback to the mid and late 90's style of Boxing After Dark shows."

As he got up to leave shortly after the official announcement of Litrzau's win, Hernandez said, 'I'm glad I came, he glared at me after the second knockout, he knows who I am. Hopefully the next time we see each other it will be at the press conference to announce the fight."

Said Carl Moretti of Main Events, promoter of Litzau, "It's terrific fight for the fans. Nobody wants to fight either guy so this would work out perfectly. The Edison Miranda/Willie Gibbs fight in December is the same type of fight. The ending will be someone getting KTFO."

Said Dominic Pesoli of 8 Count Productions, promoter of 8 Count Productions, 'This is exactly what boxing needs, highly skilled prospects who are willing to test themselves against each other and have no fear. Just what the HBO Boxing After Dark series exemplifies."
