It’s been a great weekend of boxing this weekend in the UK!

It kicked off on Friday night with the Coldwell Boxing Promoted fight-night entitled ‘The Real Deal’ at Bowlers, Manchester, which should have headlined Shayne Singleton’s defence of the Light Welterweight Title to Tyrone Nurse, but that was cancelled when Singleton could not make the weight.

Instead, Matty Clarkson of Preston became the headlining bout as he faced Jamie Kelly of Castleford in an eight round Light-Heavyweight Contest.

The contest lasted around two minutes as Kelly was floored by a body shot.

Clarkson improves to 11 wins (3 by KO) 1 loss and 2 draws, while Kelly drops to 6 wins (2 by KO) 1 loss (1 by KO) and 1 draw.

Preston’s Tyrone Nurse now faced Krzysztof Szot of Poland in an eight round Light Welterweight Contest.
It’s always a tidy performance from Nurse who used long reaching lefts to keep the Polish man at bay. He won all eight rounds but looked to be ‘holding back’- just doing enough to get through the fight. The fact he was expecting to fight for a Title just a few days previous must surely have had an effect.

Nurse wins on points 80-72 and improves to 27 wins (5 by KO) 1 loss while Szot drops to 17 wins (5 by KO) 7 losses.

Jimmy Kilrain Kelly (Wythenshawe) v Dee Mitchell (Birmingham)
6 x 3 Light Middleweight Contest

Kelly wins on points 60-54 and improves to 8 wins (4 by KO) no losses.
Mitchell drops to 9 wins (2 by KO) 42 losses (2 by KO) and 1 draw.

Liam Hanrahan (Macclesfield) v Valentin Marinov (Bulgaria)
4 x 3 Super Bantamweight Contest

Hanrahan notches up a points win over Marinov (40-36) much to the delight of his army of noisy fans! His record improves to 5 wins (3 by KO) no losses, while Marinov drops to 5 wins (2 by KO) 4 losses (2 by KO) and 1 draw.

Liam Conroy (Barrow) v Gary Cooper (Bargoed, Wales)
6 x 3 Middleweight Contest

Conroy – who was on the canvas twice in round two – still managed to get a points win 57-56 over Welshman Cooper.
Conroy improves to 5 wins (1 by KO) and 1 loss while Cooper falls to 3 wins (1 by KO) 12 losses (2 by KO) and 1 draw.

Ryan Doyle (Gorton) v Pavels Senkov (Mansfield via Latvia)
6 x 3 Featherweight Contest

Doyle wins on points 60-54 and improves to 7 wins (4 by KO) no losses. Senkovs drops to 2 wins (2 by KO) 63 losses (2 by KO) and 5 draws.

Joe Collins (Macclesfield) v Carl Allen (Wolverhampton)
4 x 3 Light Middleweight Rounds

Veteran – Carl Allen was thrilled to get his first win in ten years ! (He’s drawn on two occasions since).
Allen came out motivated for this fight and gave Collins a hard time. Scoring with lefts to the head and rights to the body – Allen gets the points victory 39-38. His record now stands at 19 wins (5 by KO) 107 losses (18 by KO) and 7 draws.

Collins drops to 2 wins 3 losses (1 by KO).

Marcus Le Doux (Stoke) v Dan Blackwell (Trowbridge)
4 x 3 Middleweight Contest

Le Doux notches up his second win on points 39-37
Blackwell drops to 3 wins 22 losses (1 by KO)

Danny Benson (Debutant) (Hyde) v Tommy Gifford (Weston-Super-Mare)
4 x 3 Cruiserweight Contest

Debutant Benson’s first pro outing lasted just half a round as the Hyde man was KO’d midway through the opening frame.
Gifford gets his first win of two. His record now 1 win (1 by KO) and 1 loss (1 by KO).
