The first world heavyweight championship ever staged in the state of Arizona is shaping up as a day and night--sun and stars--event with the retractable roof open at Chase Field in Phoenix for the entire card on Saturday, Nov. 4.
The co-featured main events are WBO heavyweight champion Sergei "White Wolf" Liakhovich defending against Shannon "The Cannon" Briggs and WBA lightweight champion Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz defending against Fernando "La Fiera" Angulo.
The event is being promoted by Don King Productions and the two previously mentioned matches will also be broadcast on Showtime at 9 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).
On Monday there will be some open workouts for the media at a centrally located gym in Phoenix. Scheduled to appear:
IBF Junior Bantam Champion Luis “El Demoleodor” Perez, 24-1 (15), from Nicaragua.
WBC #7 welterweight Miguel “Miki” Rodriguez, 27-2 (22), from Naucalpan, Mexico.
Former NABF Bantamweight Champ Ricardo “Chapo” Vargas, 39-12-3 (13), from Tijuana, Mexico.
WBA Fedelatin Champion Fernando “La Fiera” Angulo, 18-3 (11), from Caracas, Venezuela.
