Escobedo vs. Guevera Added To Next 8 Count Boxing Bill

By Boxing Press November 6th, 2006 All Press Releases

2004 US Olympian super featherweight Vicente Escobedo will face Ramon Guevara this Friday night, November 10th at Cicero Chill, it was announced today by Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions and Dominic Pesoli of 8 Count Productions.

Said De La Hoya about the eight round Escobedo/Guevara matchup; "Vicente Escobedo is a young man whose career I've been following since he was an amateur, and after he represented the US in the 2004 Olympics, I knew we had to sign him for Golden Boy Promotions.”

“He's got amazing talent, a strong work ethic, and the type of star quality you can't teach. I definitely see him becoming a world champion in the coming years if he stays on the path he's on now."

"Ramon Guevara is one of those fighters that you can't judge solely by his record. He always comes to fight, he's young, he's hungry, and he knows what beating someone like Vicente Escobedo will mean for his career."

Speaking about his debut in Chicago, Escobedo of Woodland Hills, CA said, "The opportunity to fight in Chicago means everything to me. I've always wanted to experience all the different cultures of the Windy City."

On his opponent: “Guevara is a good, decent opponent with more experience than me, but I'm going to win again, impressively. I'm excited to get back in the ring, feeling strong, and to remind Chicago when I come back, to lookout for Vicente Escobedo.”
