Boxing Weigh-In: Wladimir Klitschko - Calvin Brock

By Boxing Press November 10th, 2006 All Press Releases

Heavyweight Champion of the World Wladimir Klitshcko weighed-in at 241 lbs. and the no. 3 ranked contender Calvin Brock tipped the scales at 224 ½ lbs. at the main event weigh-in this afternoon at Madison Square Garden Theatre Lobby. Klitschko will make the first defense of his titles when he squares off against Brock, on Saturday night, November 11, at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The undercard weigh ins will all take place at 3:00 PM Friday at the Garden's Theater Lobby.

The world championship contest will be presented by K-2 Promotions in association with Main Events, and will be televised live by HBO Sports World Championship Boxing (10 PM/ET, 7 PM/PT) and RTL (live in Germany) from the “Mecca of Boxing.”

The 6’6” Klitschko (46-1, 43 KO’s) stopped Chris Byrd with a seventh round TKO to win the championship on April 22, 2006 in Mannheim, Germany. A native of the Ukraine, “Dr Steelhammer” has triumphed in his last four fights, and is trained by Emanuel Steward.

Undefeated in 29 fights as a professional, Brock (29-0, 22 KOs), the “Boxing Banker,” has also scored KO's in four of his last seven contests. On Feb 25, 2006, the 31-year-old Charlotte, NC native frighteningly annihilated Zuri Lawrence with a single left hook that immediately knocked Lawrence unconscious and sent him crashing to the canvas (TKO 6).

Brock is ranked #3 by the IBF, and is recognized by many boxing insiders as the best young American heavyweight in boxing.

Undefeated WBC light heavyweight champion, Laila Ali (22-0, 19 KO’s), the youngest daughter of former legendary World Heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, will be featured on the card as she makes her Madison Square Garden debut.
